Anyone else experiencing a small bit of CPU whine on their new T400's and T500's? There's a very faint (not nearly as bad as my work's MBP) constant low buzz of static coming out of both speakers if i run on battery power. If I'm on AC, it's not there.
To test, hold the speaker up to your ear while on AC, and then pull the power cord. As soon as I do, the static starts. It's very faint, and I'm probably not going to complain about it to Lenovo, but I'm curious if others have this issue.
And yes, my mic is muted.
It annoys me because it seems every new laptop has this problem, especially Intel ones. And it's obviously just an insulation problem with the speakers or sound card not being insulated enough from the (large) power fluctuations of modern processors. I thought that buy not buying a cheap consumer-level laptop I'd avoid the problem, but I guess not.
Note that it's not a problem with speedstep, because I run Linux, and speedstep (cpu frequency scaling) is enabled whether I run on battery on or AC.
mild CPU whine on T400?
