Just picked up a X1 Carbon. Not exactly a bargain, but nonetheless I'm very happy with it. Had to get the i7 model because it was the only one with 8GB of RAM and built-in 3G.

It came with a VGA adapter which I imagine is great for business users with projectors. I don't use a projector, but I do connect my computer to my TV all the time.

I'm curious: Does the miniDP on the X1 Carbon support sound pass-through to HDMI?

I ask this because the adapter I have does not have sound, but perhaps because it's an older adapter that doesn't support this functionality and I never bothered getting a new adapter because later I bought a laptop with HDMI built-in.

    TIA

Yes, it does support sound pass-through like all the current Thinkpads with DisplayPort and miniDP-out. Adapters can be finicky, though, and some will pass audio through while others won't. Your best bet is to ask around among other X1C owners and see which exact adapters worked for them.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll probably pop into the local electronics store and pick up an quality adapter and see what works.
