Anyone know how I can get it back? I have no idea what happened to it :|

I would reinstall the power management software from the Lenovo website. I suspect that will solve your problem quickly.

Try this:
Go to ThinkVantage > Power Manager > Options.
See if 'Show Power Manager Gauge in task bar' is unchecked for some reason. If it is, check it. Your battery gauge should now show on the taskbar.
If this doesn't solve the issue, I would follow Phil's advice and reinstall Power Manager. -
Thanks guys, I will try reinstalling it.

I find mine comes and goes from time to time. If you unlock the taskbar, it usually returns.

Did the reinstallation work? I tried that on mine and there was no improvement, but I did find that by having a plain black desktop background the battery icon always appears! I assumed it is something to do with Vista aero, but have no real evidence. BTW I have an X61T with Vista Business

PLEASE READ THIS I FIGURED IT OUT!!
i had this problem on my old laptop (IBM thinKpad, not sure what model) and have just had it happen again on my IBM THINKPAD R40. my neighbor showed me some stuff and i figured it out. go to START>RUN>type in MSCONFIG>STARTUP tab>check PWRMONIT. then restart. thats how it is on my PC. some computers may have something called "BATBAR" or "BAR.EXE" etc. look for a program in startup tab that has some words related to power or battery and make sure it's checked. if it already is, uncheck it, apply, restart, then recheck it and restart.
