Oooo goodie ! I may just have to pick me up one of these.
I never was big on the iPad facade. I have the iPhone, and two laptops, so I never saw the need for the iPad (since it really is just a bigger version of the iPhone).
But this on the other hand, may make me shift into the tablet market ! -
lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
If you wait long enough (in this case, 18 mos!) almost any fantasy will come true.

Really, i am still dreaming about owning the Ferrari Italia 458...... and winning division 1 prize in lotto.....
But back to the topic, i think it would be interesting what sort keyboards this machine would include in the docking clamshell case.
Currently, apart from the Samsung Galaxy Tab and iPad all other implementation of android tablets have been pretty bad. The U1 was interesting, but the design is slightly too avantgarde for my taste.
After all this years, Lenovo finally have brought back the tablet under Thinkpad monkier.
First ThinkPad tablet was almost 20 years ago - ch... - Lenovo Community -

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
That first picture I actually thought it was a ThinkPad.
That's interesting, I think comparable to that Blackberry tablet. Too bad my mom just recently bought an iPad 2 32 GB 3G. -
I personally have high hopes for Windows8 Tablets.
But it's interesting to note that Apple is the only one using the games console strategy for tablets. They give developers one platform, one chip, to develop for, and developers are free to max it out with native running code.
Windows8 vs iOS vs Android for Tablets will sure be entertaining in 2012. -
Maybe Nokia would produce a MeeGo tablet...

Here's the kinda problem I see and its really not related to this tab exactly. But I would say that most people that were looking at getting a tab already have be it the Xoom, Samsung, Ipad, or Ipad2, HP pick your fav, Dell, etc. Between now Xmas will be kinda dry on sales but think we will see an amazing amount of tabs come out. Just not alot of sales going on until the magic Xmas time rolls around. Ontop of that the coolness factor of tabs will start to wear off as people start to understand that there more limiting than their laptops. The last offer Lenovo sent me was for a X220i for 687!! .. So for now. I already have an i-puke and a "we at Motorola promised you everything working and screwed you over,,"Sucker!!" Xoom so I'm good for a few years. At the end of the day with the price of say that X220i and tab I can either choose a toy or real laptop.
As consumers are more educated I think the less the tabs will fill the roll unless and I think this is where tabs will be going to IF and its a big if the companies can make them with KB and mouse so as to function like their laptop but with the weight of under a pound and 8 hour battery. I know when I first got my Xoom I use to take it on the road with me all the time. it was fun to play with etc but what I found at the end of my trips was I was burning large amounts of time "playing" and not really working like I should have been. I was always on the market looking for the next better RDP app or a better text editor , or wifi scanner. Better battery monitor , app killer man the list just go on an on. Funny thing was I didn't even realize it until I had a 15 hour flight. There was a guy next to me on a half full red eye flight on the other side of isle typing away and doing what I usually do and what I SHOULD have been doing. However I was to busy "playing" to realize that I had gotten up not once but 5 times to grab my x220 out of my bag to complete some tasks that couldn't be done on tab and then would put my x220 away again. I was just so focused in on what I was doing with the head phones on in my own little world. It wasn't until breakfast that he leaned over and said "guess you won't have to work out when you get to your hotel will you". Frankly I didn't have a clue what he was talking about and just said "I'm sorry?" he followed with " you got up 5 times, pulled out all the luggage just to get your laptop only to put it back again" I followed with " yes sure thats their stupid rule, one device etc". He follow with this " seems to me you could have done all your work on thinkpad just fine instead of playing with your tab". He then just smiled and I'm sure I turn red for a moment from "feeling" <--- insulted until I realized he actually was dead on right. I did funny as you know look down to see his laptop and would guessed it , it was a X201T DUH . These days the Xoom stays home as a the toy it is and I stopped wasting my time trying to fit in my work life. The more I use the ipad or the xoom the less I see either really fitting in even in my play time. Yes Tab's are cool, yes there fun and yes there 500+ dollars that I can spend 200 or less and have a really nice laptop.
And yes this was insanely long post but I hope the it was worth reading from my biz man's perspective.
Yes I do think its great that Lenovo is coming out with one.
The one question to ask yourself before buying something is,
what is this "say a tab" going to provide me that my other "whatever it is" "laptop we will say" isn't doing for me now. I will end with hummmm.

i will use it as a tablet pc, so it is okay. I don't really play games on my iPad, so i guess i am safe from that aspect. I mostly read through all the pdf ebooks and read through various business news webpages.

The only thing that concern me is not having a delicate pgup and pgdn key, a software fix using a gesture would he great also. I usually surf a long webpages and are costumed to using pgup and pgdn.
I hate using the scrolling on safari mobile on the iPad, which are one of the main reason why I did not keep it.
I guess I have to wait and see if the browser allow me to quickly scroll one page at a time. -
Still not sure why people like tablets that aren't full computers.
Also, anyone want to cry when they saw that this has more vertical resolution than the x220? -
Current tablets offer all of that except note taking in a tiny package. There aren't many slate computer tablets out there anymore and the convertibles like the X220 are too big for a tablet, in my opinion. Oh and the battery life is insanely better on the dedicated tablets than on the computer tablets.
I'll be selling my Xoom soon on Craigslist for this one. -
May buy one (or something similar) eventually but would be inclined to hold off until it matures a little. Rev A of a completely new type of product is bound to have a few annoying things not realised during development.
-
Ditto. I have realized that the iPad is close to worthless except as a email reader (shows attachments really well) or Kindle like device and I did watch movies on airplanes until the glare got to me, so now use my Thinkpad.
My X220 simply killed any business use of the iPad, which is a great entertainment device but lacks any true business purpose. -
Big thumbs up for this new thinkpad tablet being 16:10! An increasing rarity these days
It's pretty light at 1.6 pounds, about half the weight of an x220. Still, I'd prefer something lighter still if I'm going to carry it about all day. But that's just me. -
Email
Web Browsing
Remote network work via SSH
Kindle reading
Remote server work via RDP apps
Anything else was meh. Applications on the Apple App Store are of a higher quality than the ones in the Android store - at least from my experience. However I like the developer experience on Android more than iOS so that's why I jumped ship. -
Can't wait to test this baby.

I've had variations of many different tablets and the only time they've proved useful has been during non-responsive web surfing. As in, I'm just surfing the web to read material, not respond. As soon as you need to do any kind of responding the on-screen keyboards just plain SUCK at the task. From the slow process of using a virtual keyboard, to the loss of screen viewing areas when it pops up. It's just too disruptive to be useful for any kind of real responding.
The only tablet I've kept around is a Nook Color. It's surprisingly versatile for such a cheap device. But it's great for web surfing in a hotel room or lying in bed. With just enough screen resolution to be useful while still being small and light enough to hold for several hours.
The single most annoying thing about tablets is software never gets designed to work effectively on them. But most software sucks anyway, a tablet often just seems to make it suck even more. -
So you could check in on this forum easily enough with it? -
The hardware looks capable, but I'm skeptical of Honeycomb's usefulness (no Microsoft Office and what-not). I'd like something more like a downsized X1 or X220 tablet.
-
Interesting that Lenovo is following up in this field of iPad-like-tablets. However, Apple has a massive app store... so I'm guessing Lenovo will target more of a business market?

Don't get me wrong, I think the Lenovo tablet idea certainly has merit. If/when they get around to shipping it I'll certainly give it a try. -
tapatalk is also available on iOS. It is pretty good.

Looking forward to this, probably going to be a shoot out between this and the new X121e (whenever its out) as my next PC.
I had a Asus Transformer for a day but took it back as the build was not as good as i was expecting, a nice solid thinkpad tablet would be lovely, with the rubber finish on the back so that it grips in your hand.
The Andriod 3.1 OS is quite good for web browsing, especially when you have a keyboard.
move over iPad the Real McCoy is here
