    1. Build quality on the T400 is overall very good, but the Dell E6400 should be comparable (both are high end business class notebooks).
    2. Keyboard flex is bad, but it has been fixed (the T400 currently ships with the older and firmer T61 keyboard design)
    3. If you order it with Vista Business and an XP recovery DVD [you did] you will get XP recovery discs (factory preload). Otherwise no DVD is provided (a recovery partition is on the drive, and you can, and should, make your own Vista set by following a simple wizard).

Your configuration looks good, and I would suggest getting it. One other thought; if you think you ever might want WWAN, get it now (it is expensive to add it later). Last I checked the AT&T card was only $30 to buy it upfront, but about $150 to add at a later date.

The other option I would consider is the Dell E6400. It has an NVidia Quadro graphics card (good for engineering and 3D rendering applications [no better for games]) and a backlit keyboard (which some people prefer). However, this only has DDR2 memory (slower and uses more power), and may not have switchable graphics (not great for heat or battery life).

Lenovo will not ship a notebook from the US to Indonesia. You'll have to look for local sellers or eBay is another option if you can find a shipper willing to ship overseas.

Just use a mail forwarder. That's the best way to get it.

The battery life on the T400 seems to be better than the E6400 (although I must admit that the battery drain test on the E6400 review on this site was completely unrealistic and non-sensible, but the E6400 seems to get lower battery life than the T400 on other sites as well). If you get the T400, I think a 6-cell battery would give you more than enough battery life for a typical workday.

People have also been unhappy with the trackpoint and trackpad on the E6400, so be wary of that.

I find the Thinklight more useful than a backlit keyboard because you can use it to read notes or handouts when giving presentations.

    I'd go for the T400.

i've read your email that's just lookin great but
i don't do my friend capable to do so for me :(
i also dont know how long to do some international shipping from us to here
    i never done that before

    >>Voldenuit
    how bad is it ?
i think the 9 cells will give me a hole day computing since i might be using it at my collage like 6 hours (3 shift) and if i got an assigment it will went up to like 1 or 2 extra shift

since i'm thinking the delivery from us to my country
    the risk :
    1. high cost to transport (i think the cost is about $ 300 at least)
    2. the laptop i buy might be lost in transport (indonesian transport security )
    3. maybe i might have the save delivery but i have to wait like 8 more months
when my friend going to go back to indonesia

the best think i can do is like buy from singapore
the cost is like 3000 SGD - T400

if i'm going to buy from sg i might have to fly there buy and return home
it might cost me like awesome cost 3 million idr
if i go alone but if i bring my mom along the cost might be doubled

Worst Case Scenario is i have to wait like 8 more months till the windows 7 out then i bought my notebook :D :D maybe?

T400 is ligher than E6400, but it looks like E6400 is more fashion than T400
