Hey guys I just wanted to share that I'm now part of the Thinkpad community! I got a new t61 on ebay and I was amazed when it arrived. The first thing to shock me was seeing the lid and cover. For some reason the soft touch cover is amazing to touch and look at. Then I immediately went to the keyboard where I keep reading about how great it is. I typed on it and WOW the thing is sooo firm and feels amazing. and then the trackpoint is actually addicting! I can't be any more happy with my first thinkpad experience, and Now I'm a thinkpad customer for life.

The only thing that dissapoints me is the battery life on it. I get maybe 2 and a half hours on a six cell. Its loaded with 2.1 ghz, penryn, 3gigs of ram, NVS 140m, and a 100gb 7200rpm drive. It is really fast compared to my old toshiba.

I wanted to also ask you guys if, my one year warranty (the basic one) covers parts such as palm rests? Because I accidentally got super glue on it and I can't get it off. Would I call and check? or does anyone know what this basic warranty covers, and what I would have to pay to get it fixed.

    Thanks,
    Kent

Well the basic warranty doesn't carry you damaging it (accidental coverage would). However, I assume it does not have this :\.

Just don’t fondle your new notebook in public too much—some people won’t understand.

You can pick up a palm rest pretty cheap. 2-2.5 hours on the six cell is pretty normal.

Enjoy the new T400. It's a great machine and deserving of the Thinkpad family.

I don't like the cheap plastic thinkpad, not sturdy, when you press the LCD lid from the back, you will see the difference between T60 and T61/t500, lenovo is not good one now
