Sorry if this is in the wrong section I didn't see anywhere else to put it D:

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2) 25W1

    14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ LED Backlight

ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 with 256MB

    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)

    320GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm4

DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)

    Note WLAN10

    6 cell Li-Ion Battery60

41C9170 3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day

    1328.15 with a mouse

Am I forgetting anything here? Anything I've done wrong in the configuration?

It's going to be plugged into the wall most of the time, cost is an issue for me and the 9 cell isn't worth the cost to me. Mainly going to use it for music/movies/tv.

straight of the bat, for sure get SINGLE DIM for that 2GB. You'll thank me in the future lol. I would also pick a 7200rpm HD instead, if cost is an issue... pick a smaller size with the higher rpm. I would also get the intel 5300 wifi card (it's not that expensive but it comes with the extra antenna).

1 up for the ram suggestion, but I think the 7200rpm drive is not a good idea. it looks like the op would want capacity over speed (music/movies/tv).

I am not a fan of large laptop drives simply because external hard drives are much less prone to movement and accidents. But make sure to decide for yourself op. The intel wifi5100 would be fine as well but 5300 does have more antennas as NSX mentioned which should yield better signal strength (range and performance).

isn't higher rpm good for transferring files (aka op's media stuff) and also just general access time.. cause.. size can always be solved with an external hd like what Jaredy said. I agree with him about the whole large laptop drives as well.

personally i just ordered a x200 and i decided to pick a smaller HD but with the 7200 rpm.

But ya.. tinaxia i see what you mean about the Size... the op does seem like he wanted hd size.

Buying a 320 GB WD Scorpio Black from newegg is also an option.

Get a 250gb hard drive and a 9-Cell battery, remember, external hard drives are very nice for holding music. :)

BTW if you already have a 6-Cell its worth it in the long run.

hmm that is an interesting idea, I have 2.2 terrabytes of space on my desktop machine, I plan on streaming most of my movies/music to my laptop over the wireless.

I'm just used to having a ton of space on my computers so I was leaning towards the 320. But the extra battery is very tempting as well and it wouldn't be a bad price trade for the hdd vs the battery.

yup battery life over HD any day.

HD is always dropping in price... battery not really lol and it's proprietary so.. you're pretty much stuck ordering a Lenovo battery.

Or stick to the 6 cell and get a sophisticated router that supports Gigabit and wireless N to make your streaming experience A LOT better.

I LOVE gigabit connection and i recommend Linksys, they're pretty much backed up by cisco and there's a lot of custom firmware for Linksys.

I'm not a big fan of the single DIM. Rams' prices can drop very quickly.

Same for the HDD, the speed increase does not really worth the price (not mentioning the extra eat and battery draning) and carrying around your lappy with an external HDD...not very practical.

Vista Business won't drain the battery at a ridiculous rate? I like vista I run ultimate x64 on my desktop machine, but I mean aero + superfect + indexing really churns the harddrives and the gpu is running full time so that's clearly not feasable.

Also I didn't think about the wireless thing, I need to upgrade my router to use that N stuff. I did add the upgraded wireless card. Still on the fence about the battery and harddrive though.

Thank you guys for all the suggestions! I'll probably order tomorrow after another night of sleeping on it. Been a big help :3

I got Trendnet TEW-633GR a/b/g/n router when it was on sale at newegg for $50 bucks few days ago. It has 255 review w/ 4-star rating. So far it's been good but I haven't been able to test N yet. Price bumped back to $89 but it should still be a good deal.

if you run 32bit windows, I would just go 3GB RAM and be done with it, lenovo doesn't overprice their RAM anyway. I would definitely go with a 7200rpm drive though.
