very nice Adam
when did you order yours?
I can't wait to get mine
Update: nevermind my question....it looks like you live very close to the Lenovo factory
-
ha~yep.
and i just bought it directly from vendors, not thru de online process. -
x200 owners are the coolest =)
-
Whaddaya think so far?
-
it feels great so far!
-
Recent x200 owners have been complaining about a space between the LCD the plastic bezel. Any such "gap?" I didn't have anything and it seems only like newer owners mentioning the issue.
-
Was kind of hoping for more than a sentence, if you got the time. There's got to be some things about it you like/dislike?
-
too soon ZaZ the honeymoon ain't over yet
-
there's honestly nothing i dislike about it...
only thing that i needed time to get use to is the trackpoint.
ZaZ do you have any specific questions that you want to know? -
Battery life on the 9 cell, how is it?
-
efficient space =]
-
No not really. While I'd love to get one, my R60 is unfortunately more than meeting my needs.
-
Congrats.....I love my X200 too.

Varies depending on usage pattern. Minimum brightness, no wi-fi, idle processor, etc. 11+ hours. Medium brightness, wi-fi, slow processor about 8.5 hours. Standard definition video playback, about 7.5 hours. High def video playback (720P AVC) about 6 hours. Thrash the processor and drives for all their worth with a dual thread encode in handbrake, external drives, max brightness, all wireless, and you might only get about 3 (although your tasks will move very fast). Overall, I am very satisfied with my 9 cell battery, and most of these numbers for me run between 95% and 5%, so you may be able to get an extra 30 minutes if you don't care as much as me about long term battery health (replacements are expensive).
-
i dunno... with brightness level at like 3 blocks and wifi on (bluetooth off)... a fully charge battery i get only like more realistically 5 hours or 6 hours max of pdfing/word processing/surfing
The battery settings profile for Performance, System temp, Fan sound and power usage are set at two blocks...
what am i doing wrong? O.O -
Are you using Vista? It took Vista about 2 weeks to settle down for me. Initially it would thrash the hard drive, run indexing, and do everything like crazy. Eventually though it settled down. With similar settings (brightness 7/15, slow processor, reduce noise, 2 or 3 blocks across the board) and similar usage I get every bit of eight hours on my 9 cell.
If you are running with adaptive processor settings it is possible that you have a misbehaving app that is forcing your machine to run at a high voltage/wattage (Firefox, Acrobat, and Flash have a way of doing this). Make sure that scheduled defrags, virus scanners, and similar items are disabled when on battery. Leave indexing and superfetch on, because eventually they should increase battery life and system response by reducing hard disk activity, although in the short term they may make it worse.
It should also be noted I am not using any peripherals with my x200 (mouse, optical drive, WWAN card, etc.). The use of any of these (especially optical drive or WWAN) will substantially reduce your battery life. Battery usage under light surfing should be between 9 and 12 watts, yielding 8 hours at the average of 10.5W on an 84WHr battery (the 9 cell is close to this). -
Right in front of a couple of beer bottles. Just like how I'm gonna have mine.
-
thanks that sounds comforting.. i'll check out my battery life in a week or two later.
-
Are you running the CPU throttled or not? I usually set mine at lowest when on battery, since I do not do any heavy lifting when off the plug.
-
well i use that lenovo power manager thing.. when i'm on battery.. i throttle the CPU at 2 blocks instead of max
-
Well, here is the thing. I owned my X200 for more than a week now and until I read the "gap" postings it didn't even occur to me to check for something like that. I did check and what do you know, there is an obvious gap between the LCD and the bezel. Do I mind it? I don't think so because it doesn't affect at all the image and the screen is perfectly aligned with respect to the frame.
One more thing and this is purely a speculation. Maybe the gap is there for the privacy screen accessory. If you notice there are two sets of tabs on the top and bottom of the page but none on the sides. Maybe the privacy screen just slides in ...
