Hi, I just recieved my n100 today! :D
    T2400 dual core, WSXGA+, nVidia go 7300

It came from newegg via UPS, and the box had a huge crunch in the corner, BOTH boxes (even the lenovo one inside 3" of peanuts)

I booted it up and configured xp pro. The screen, where it's supposed to be black is a brownish haze. I can change the nVidia settings and I can get it to go away, almost. The black is more a gray than black, but the haze returns while watching videos.

Also the Hard drive is rather noisy, it's constantly clicking away all the time... kinda like my parents old win95 IBM desktop (which btw is still running, all original hardware! 10 years and still kickin' )... click click clickity click... this is my first laptop so mabye it is normal to hear the hdd?

I can't call newegg today, but certainly tomorrow. Just curious if this is a random bad computer or if the screen/hdd is an issue with other laptops as well... namely if I should get a different computer altogether.

also, is there a way to get an xp pro installation disk? the book says 'everything is on the hdd for your convenience, no keeping track of CDs...'
so I assume i can just burn one?

I wrote the review for the n100. The screen did look a little washed out while viewing DVDs but otherwise seemed good. You cannot burn off a XP CD, but I would recommend burning off the recovery CDs. Hard to say about the hard drive. I don't recall it being more noisy than any other drive I have seen recently. You can always ask for a replacement.

Next time UPS or anyone else gives you a package with a big dent in it, I would tell them you want to inspect it before signing which is your inalienable right.

If it's an Hitachi hard drive you got in there, that's actually pretty normal. Unfortunately.
