I need MORE battery life, now so I think I'm just going to get another battery or 2.
I was just looking on ebay and I see this

Is there any reason not to go with generic batteries? and will this 12cell work(lenovo doesn't sell 12cell batteries for the T500).
Thanks so much!

some one here, has to be running a non-oem battery in one of there thinkpads? do they work just as good?

Please observe the 24 hour bump rule.
I have used non-oem batteries in a T40 (from Calcellular) and it worked fine. However, I am highly suspicious of any "12 cell" batteries as they are not just non-oem but a completely different design. -
PS. anymore opinions... so far I'm still going to order it. -
With the Lenovo thinkpad as opposed to the IBM thinkpad, there is a controller chip that identifies dangerous operating conditions and would cause the fuse to open, to prevent overheating and overcharging, which is the main safety problems of generic battery.
Also, Lenovo Thinkvantage Power management would check whether the battery is genuine or generic, which the old IBM Thinkpad doesn't do. If it is a generic it would give an error message.
With generics stick with either the 6 or 9 cells, make sure the battery seller has a good rep and you have a good warranty period. As most of these generics lose their charging capacity pretty quickly. -
