Please observe the 24 hour bump rule.

I have used non-oem batteries in a T40 (from Calcellular) and it worked fine. However, I am highly suspicious of any "12 cell" batteries as they are not just non-oem but a completely different design.

I thought the 24hours rule was only for the BST part... I'll remeber that for next time. Thanks!
PS. anymore opinions... so far I'm still going to order it.

With the Lenovo thinkpad as opposed to the IBM thinkpad, there is a controller chip that identifies dangerous operating conditions and would cause the fuse to open, to prevent overheating and overcharging, which is the main safety problems of generic battery.

Also, Lenovo Thinkvantage Power management would check whether the battery is genuine or generic, which the old IBM Thinkpad doesn't do. If it is a generic it would give an error message.

With generics stick with either the 6 or 9 cells, make sure the battery seller has a good rep and you have a good warranty period. As most of these generics lose their charging capacity pretty quickly.

This is good to know... I think I saw some 9cell lenovo ones for like 60-70 dollars. I think I'm going to look into those ones.
