    HI all,
I just opened my new T60 with 100Gigs 7200rpm HD. I am amazed that the HD makes all the time the same level of noise as the fan, which I never had in my older laptops. Is the choice of 7200rpm is the reason?. Does anybody have that fan like noise in there T60 please inform. Also the clock-like ticking noise (which corresponds with the HD LED light ) is over the fan like noise.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

If you got the Hitachi drive there are some utilities on their site which can quite the drive some.

....yet then again 7200RPM drives generally are a bit louder in opersation than their 5400 and 4200RPM counterarts
it seems quite normal to me
you could also check out ZaZ's suggestion of software from the support section of the official site
it may halp you quiet it down a bit

I have the 5400 drive and am getting absolute silence from mine....not even the fan noise others were complaining about. I have to put it right up next to my ear to hear anything.

Yea same hear. My 5400RPM drive is virtually silent, except when booting up then it does make a silent fan noise but otherwise its a very quite drive.

It certainly causes the speed to reduce in order to eliminate the noise.is that right?
