I bought a w530 a few days ago that features a 32GB mSata and I wonder if everything is as it should be because:
1) In Windows Disk Management the drive is listed with a 21.81GB primary partition and an 8GB hybernation partition
2) In Windows Explorer the disk is not visible
3) Bios sees the disk
4) GParted does not see the disk
5) Hiberfil.sys is on the OS partition of the HDD as usually
I guess my mSata should function as a cache drive. How do I know if it already functions as one or I have to set it up myself? My Windows OS is as preinstalled.

In your taskbar, or in your program files, there should be a program Intel SRT Acceleration or something very similar that allows you to manage your smart cache. I think you should also be able to see the disk in CMD with the List Disk command, but it is normal not to see the disk in windows explorer if the whole disk is used as a cache.

Thanks, I can't find the srt app on my laptop. Maybe I should download it. Do you have a link?
I read somewhere that srt only runs if SATA is set to RAID in BIOS. My laptop BIOS doesn't have a raid option. -

The downloads from your link, I understand they prerequisite a raid config. As i said my W530 Bios does not have an option for raid.
After doing some searching I found this. So it appears that Lenovo notebooks that come with an mSata but do not support raid, this is set up to work with ExpressCache from Diskeeper. ExpressCache does not have any settings and after opening a console one can figure out if it is indeed working or not with " eccmd.exe -info". If it's working it will show cache read and write %.I found out that with the original installation the system finds the eccmd.exe also from C:\, with a personal install one has to go to the folder that contains the exe otherwise it cannot be found.
On the mSata there is also an 8GB hibernation partition, that commensurates with the machine's ram. Rapid Start something has to be enabled in Bios, there is also a time setting. According to the time setting config, sleep mode will be changed into deep sleep something. Also the partition cannot be removed through disk management, there is a special diskpart procedure I think in order to delete it.
