I chose the win xp option for my t61 and it arrived without a CD... is that normal? What if I want to clean install? If I payed extra for a license, shouldn't they give me a CD with the freedom to install it? Or is there some kind of hidden partition with a restoration image on it?

There is supposed to be a way in which you can make your own CD from their programs, or just use nLite to make your own CD.

The majority of companies will either give you a set of recovery discs or include a hidden recovery partition. You can burn your own set with the Rescue & Recovery program.

Yes, you will need to create your restore cds yourself from the hidden partition. I think the Thinkvantage tools can do this for you.

I assume you mean this link from my guide:

    http://www.howtohaven.com/system/createwindowssetupdisk.shtml

I've had about 5 posters who have used it and they've been successful. Hope that helps.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot. I'll update this thread with my progress.

Also, now that I think of it, can't we create a script for this for this? Actually, Lenovo should.

I was in the same bot as you. Used the method as Arkit3kt said and no issues whatsoever. Make sure that you burn recovery discs before you do anything, you know just in case :D
