hi everyone, i just got my new z61m yesteday and evertthing goes well except for two things:
    1. i can hear a tiny and sharp noise from near the top left corner and some time from the back of laptop, it is a noise like when you turn on your volume at maximum then you hear kind of ZZZZZ...., just it is not THAT loud, and some times it comes with the flash of the system status LEDs, especially when i do nothing with my laptop(when i run a program, i can hardly hear it).and also, it will not come when i use the electricity, that is to say it comes just when i use the battery! it is not constant but continually, low but audible in a silent room. is it a regular fan noise of something eles? is it the problem of the battery?

    2. when i finish watching a film and close the sofeware(i.e. wmp, realone etc), i can see a row flash horizontally on my screen, the place is radom. it occurs just when i end the program(never when i start it). is it a problem with my screen of something eles?

thanks in advance for the feedbacks.

It's from the soundcard. I have the same problem on my Z61p. The soundmax chip seems to be mediocre. I am hoping they release a better driver for it for fix. The chip also doesn't handle games, particularly Battlefield2 very well. There would be repeated clicking sound when the background music on. I force installed a copy of HP soundmax driver and it seem to have fixed it somewhat but not completely. Though the buzz in windows still persists.

hmmm... i haven't encountered any sound issues with my Z61m. mine's working quietly. i can't even hear the harddrive.

but hey, i do have the same horizontal lines randomly appearing in my screen (after watching movies, changing volume with the little bars showing below, adjusting light etc.) but doesn't bug me at all

thanks a lot for the feedbacks!

in fact i just found that i dont have any noise when i use my lappy with the electricity(not the battery), it runs REALLY quiet!!!!!

the noise just occurs as soon as i use the battery!!!

do you guys think it is the problem of the battery?

yeah i think your battery's doing something weird. mine's silent and doesn't even whisper a thing on battery or plugged in.
