    No...they discontinued the 14" standard-screen T61p a month ago...

Really? Do you have a link or anything? I'd be surprised to see Lenovo come out with a 15" 4:3 notebook.

You can find a 15" screen in the T60s.

I'd be stunned if the T400 or T500 offered a 4:3 aspect display. I doubt it will happen though. If they were going to be offered on the next generation, it wouldn't make sense for Lenovo to have dropped the 4:3 T61s before the rest of the line.

Rumors say the next gen of Thinkpads will have LED backlit, plus some minor features such display port...Anyhow, I suppose Lenovo is trying to change the stereotype about "thinkpads' screens."

I'm about as curious as you are, having a hard time holding my breath for the new ones, since the Lenovo is offering a very good deal right now on the Thinkpad T61p.

The deals on the T61p are impressive, but since I'm not interested in a widescreen display I don't have a problem waiting. If there is a T400 offered with an SXGA+ screen I'll buy one in a heartbeat even though it would likely be more expensive than a widescreen model due to the increased costs of the panels.

TFT panel makers did not care any more about 4/3 aspect. HP and Dell only offer 16/10 laptops any more. I wonder how many customers want to pay an extra cost to have a 4/3 notebook. Perhaps a lot in this kind of forum... But it's not enough vs millions people not caring about..

A lot of businesspeople prefer the 4:3 aspect, so it would make sense for Lenovo to continue offering the screens at a slightly higher price as an option to try to entice large business purchases. By doing so they could steal market share from Dell and HP.

You can get a displayport to HDMI or displayport to DVI cable, but displayport is the newest standard and likely to see wider adoption than HDMI.
