So when I get my X61s, if it is UNOPENED, can I return it for a full 100% refund? No restocking fee, no shipping fee?
thanks

Not unless you get a super nice rep. When you agreed to the "Terms and Conditions" at the end of the checkout process, you agreed to pay a 15% restocking fee on any return as well, even unopened.
-
but if you notice my other thread, I canceled the order and they still went ahead and shipped the order the next day.
-
They will take is back then since you tried to cancel it, might take you a couple calls though (or a manager).
-
They better not try to mess around with me ^_^

Why did you decide to cancel the X61s? Or rather why don't you want it now?
-
I bought on a Sunday, canceled on Monday, but system shipped on Tuesday.
I immediately called Lenovo sales to query this situation. Was told that since I canceled before shipment, I would not be liable for restocking & shipping fees. Did not need any type of manager's approval or multiple calls either.
edit: The Monday cancellation was required only as a means towards modifying the original order. The system mods never took effect but the system shipped nonetheless. So back it went! -
Well, I'm not sure if I want to cancel it or not. How are you liking your X61? is there anything you would say that you dislike about it? Thanks -
i wish i can see one of these up in real life and personal so i can decide if i want it or not. It's either this, or my D630.

How do I like my X61? I absolutely love it.
Likes:
It is fast and reliable. It is tiny and light especially with the 4-cell battery (X61s is even ligter as you may know). It is by far the fastest and most upgradeable ultraportable I have ever had or tried. Just being able to have a T7300 2.0 GHz CPU in an ultraportable is amazing I think.
I was already very fond of the simplistic no nonsense ThinkPad design but in a small form factor like the X61(s) the design looks even better. The keyboard is excellent and I love how it uses all the physical space (width of notebook) available - i.e. there is no unused space at the edges of the keyboard. The same goes for the edges of the screen. I dislike wide edges around a notebook screen - makes the screen look too small/cheap IMO.
I love the usability of the X6 Ultrabase and how one can hotswap the Ultrabay DVD drive with an extra HDD. I am going to put the current 5400 RPM hard drive into the docking station as a backup drive and probably get a good performing Hybrid hard drive for the notebook.
Dislikes:
The screen is not as impressive as the rest of the machine. Especially not compared to other NEW notebook screens today. I would rate the screen average. Sony is famous for their nice screens and the screen of my former Sony Vaio TZ90 was so much better than the X61 screen. Much more vibrant (colors), clear and sharp. On a scale of 1 to 10... Vaio TZ = 10, X61 = 5. Needless to say the X61s can be configured with a brighter screen - but brightness is not the issue.
That's about it. I really have no other things I dislike about the X61. For an ultraportable it does an extremely good job.
But how can the choice be between the D630 and the X61s in the first place? Two completely different notebook types. Mainstream size business notebook vs. ultraportable size business notebook. Bottomline, If you don't need a larger screen or a built-in DVD drive, there is no contest. X61s is the clear winner IMO. By far. -
yeah i think your post convinces me to keep the X61s, and build a desktop. ^_^
thanks for the very informative post and I have the same tastes as you. I like how a notebook can be at it's thinnest and the whole screen bezel be used and waste no space!
I'm keeping my X61s. -
Any update on the screen quality of x61s? Do you have ultralight
-
yes i do. the quality isn't that bad at all and no noticeable light bleeding.
I do have a problem with the ONE green stuck pixel that keeps going and returning. Nothing I've done helped
not a clear answer on lenovo's return policy.
