    hi, i have a thinkpad x300

is the power jack on this notebook strong?

i mean, all that constant removing and plugging in.

and also, when i move the notebook when it is plugged in; i tend to hold the notebook at the palm rest and tilting the notebook backward a bit, making the notebook stand on its left rear leg and the power jack (as it is in the right rear).

    will it be okay?

is the power jack rugged enough?

    thank you

I'd seriously consider that a bad idea, placing half the weight on the inserted power jack. Very bad idea.

I agree with that. I think there's no need to worry about inserting/removing the power plug, but you should generally avoid putting sideways/vertical pressure on anything that's plugged into your laptop. It's bad for the cord and for the plug in your laptop.

    i know i know T.T

how do you guys avoid doing this while lifting the notebook?

the x300 is kinda thin, and just lifting it slightly makes the cord hit the desk. i feels no resistance when the cord hit the desk. i mean i dont tilt it past 45degrees.

the only way is to unplug the cord, but sometimes this is inconvenient.

The best remedy for you problem is to extend the warranty for as long as possible. Also replacing the power jack on the X300 isn't that difficult, a 30 minute job.

so when moving your notebook, do you guys; unplug the power plug everytime?

did you think i could have damage my notebook?

if i damage something, what would be the thing that gets damage?

this is one of the reason why i like apple magsafe, it is useful not only when you trip on the cord (which i never experience - luckily) but also for ease of attachment and for this reason... but thats another story..

when you say moving... if the cable is long enough, then no i don't unplug it. The Lenovo Thinkpad power plugs are pretty robust, unless you really abuse it, i don't see why it shouldn't hold up.

hi lead org, by moving i meant moving it a couple of centimeter to adjust to it to the best viewing condition.

i'm kinda wishing lenovo leave the back part of the notebook empty. all the port on the side is the way to go really.

anyone know if that middle bit in the notebook's power jack female plug, is solid or hollow?

hollow. The X60/61 had the jacks on the side. So has the X200.
