I'm planning on doing a clean install today on my brand new T61. I know there are some new drivers that did not come preloaded onto the computer. These are all available via System Update or the Lenovo site.
I'm wondering if it's possible to use these old versions of drivers on my clean install. I'm particularly interested in the older driver for the X3100. On my first T61 that I returned for unrelated reasons, the newer driver caused some minor annoyances that I'd rather not deal with.
Any help?

Just make sure back up your recovery partition, along with all the mysterious little directories you'll find on your C:\ drive (like "Intel" - I'm pretty sure the display drivers are actually in there.)
Once you've installed your new system, use the old drivers that you backed up from your C:\ drive for the components that you don't want to upgrade yet.
I used the latest X3100 drivers directly from the Intel website. It gave me a WEI boost from 3.0 to 3.5, so I'll be sticking that that version instead of what came with my T61. -
Which driver version are you referring to when you say "minor annoyances?" What's your OS? I've had problems with the driver version listed on the T61 driver matrix page.

It has little things like mouse cursor jumping around text boxes. It's hard to describe. I don't know if it happened because of the driver, or if it was something else, but I'm not seeing it now, and I have the old driver installed. (7.14.10.1214)

Have you tried this igfx driver version?
You should be able to run the older driver version with your clean install if you wish. If anything abnormal pops up, just try another driver until you find one that's compatible with your setup. The one listed above is the latest driver. -
Ok cool. I found the driver that I have installed right now on versiontracker, so if anything goes wrong, I know where to go. Thanks!
