    odd question about fingerprint reader and palmrest

    If you DON'T order the fingerprint reader, is the hole for it still there, plugged up? or do you get an entirely different palmrest with no indentation/hole for the fingerprint reader?

    It is a different palmrest with no indentation. That being said, I believe all thinkpad's starting at the T60 models and forward are capable of having fingerprint readers so all you would need to do is replace the palmrest with one that has it. The first models with fingerprint readers were the T4x series and those required a different motherboard.
