Which new thinkpads come without crooked screen?
TIA

Could it possibly be the ones that have an offset screen in their photo?
T400, T500, R400, R500, W500 -
None. My 600x, T60 and T60 WS all have off centered screens. It isn't noticeable when you are working the laptop.

When I first learned that the T61 had an off centered screen, I was kind of disappointed and walked away from it. Then I had to replace my previous laptop and decided to give it a go. I never even notice that the screen is off centered when I work. I don't know why it bothered me so much when I first heard about it, but it's really not that big of a deal.
Now, answering your question, the X200 doesn't come with an off centered screen and neither does the SL series. I also believe that the W700 will not have an off centered screen, at least from some of the screen shots I remember seeing. -
Thanks to all who replied. -
Symmetry is overrated. How much of nature is perfectly symmetric?

my face
jk. but i never notice the off center screen either(t61). might make you feel better to know its only off center because they have some amazing wireless antennas in the frame(i picked up 2 different signals from my house, with 1-2 bars.. too bad both were encrypted).

I never noticed that mine is off centered until now

but while off-centered it looks more geek oriented
I too didn't even notice it until somebody posted about it. Then I looked more carefully at my old HP Pavilion laptop, and guess what .. it's off-centered too, but not too much .. ahahahaha -
I never noticed my screen was off centered until someone pointed it out at work, I do not see how it can bother anyone.

Guys, what do you mean by "off centered", i don't understand.
-
The screen is more closer to one side of the lid than another...
In my opinion off-centered screens are fine as long as the wireless range and speed makes up for it...anyway, it seems many people don't notice it because we are looking at the screen and not what is holding it up! -
-
oh, i see now, thanks....but it's kinda weird, and why would a big company do that? maybe they have their reasons...?

If you do a search in the forum this issue has been discussed many times since the T61 got released. As an owner of a T61p, I don't pay attention to the off centered screen at all, especially when I am using it at night in low light conditions (honestly, why would you pay attention to the bezel when you are looking at the screen?).
-
off-center screens have been around a long time. My 600x has an off-centered screen. the T41 i had and both my T60's do as well. people just started to complain about them with the t61 release.

Look! I designed the perfect computer for the symmetry advocates.

Heaps of other laptops do have "slightly" off-centered LCDs--"slightly" in this case being a trivially unnoticeable measure--but unless one's OCD inner child is throwing a fit because something really noticeable like, say, a pair of gold colored LCD hinges that aren't exactly the same width draws one's eyes to the LCD's off-centeredness then one really won't give a poo if the LCD is off-centered or not.
That's why I dig my T60 so freaking much. My own inner child is at peace with its proven bilaterally symmetric design awesomeness and that leaves me free to worry about much more pressing issues...like what all's being rendered on the LCD itself. -

Note that there's a difference between fairly symmetric and perfectly symmetric. Faces, bodies, animals, etc. are often generally symmetric but there's nearly always some difference. That's just how things are. I'm sure if you spend enough time you can find some examples of perfect symmetry in organic systems, but that doesn't change the fact that such perfect symmetric is rare.
Point being - whether the display centered in the lid or not is a really minor point to be concerned about. -
have you guys noticed why they put the small striped bars on the left and upper sides of the LCD bezel? i have to give a lot of credits to thinkpad design team for that. it makes you feel like it's symmetric when you work on the screen.

I imagine that butterfly's wings might be symmetrical? Seems like their life might depend on it.
I just got my thinkpad 2 days ago, love it. The screen is no problem but the thing that really pisses me off is the Fn and control key placement and the "go back one page" and "go forward one page" buttons so close to the arrow keys.
But the screen is fine, really I cant imagine it being a bother for anyone. I mean its not that the screen is actually off centered regarding the keyboard (which i thought was the case before I bought it) it's just the border along the scren, it's all good. -
i think acer travelmates have a symetrical bezel. and they're all black, you could always just put a thinkpad sticker on it
. it comes down to this- "if" you want a lenovo, you will have to get one with an off-centered screen, or a x200(big bezel and widescreen 12" right?), or a cute ideapad. can't have everything i suppose.
off centered screen?
