I bought a U430 touch yesterday for my father. He keeps telling me that wireless keeps getting disconnected and sure enough it has to be reset every once in a while.
I know that u410 had wireless issues but u430?
Why haven't they fixed the damn issue? Anyone else having wireless problems?
EDIT: It turns out I do not have 2230 card. i have 7260. So disregard the 5 posts below that talk about 2230
Edit 2: Issue solved by changing router settings (from aes+tkip to aes only)

Uninstall PROset and downgrade the drivers to 14.8..... Every laptop user with a 2230 card should have done this by now...
-
-
Despite the bad drivers, the 2230 has a low price and a good range.
Blame Intel. -
I blame both lenovo and Intel. Lenovo decides to push out this crap. The least they can do is make sure to fix the well known problem or drop intel wireless cards if they are so unreliable.
This is frustrating to people who don't know much about computer hardware. They buy a shiny new laptop only to find out the wireless doesn't work properly. -
Even my mother's Inspiron 17R SE has this card!
The reason you dont see people complaining at Samsung is because they are complaining here:

Issue solved by changing router settings (from aes+tkip to aes only)

So I just bought the U430 Touch from best buy and I'm having similar issues. At first it would connect to my router, but giving "limited access". I reset the router, it connected fully for a couple minutes but then went back to limited access. Now it won't even find any networks, which I know they're on because I'm connected with every other device in my house. No idea what to do here. Very close to taking this back to the store but I'd like to get it working because I love everything else about it.

In my router settings, the wireless security was set to "aes + tkip". Apparently intel doesn't play nice with that combination. So I changes it to aes only. That solved issues in the laptop. Also you need to reset the wireless adapter in the computer, not the router.
Tha laptop is absolutely amazing though. The build quality, screen and everything. -
I tried all of the flavours of WPA2 available and while all worked with my Nexus 7, not a single one was visible to the U430. In the Intel Connection settings the mixed band box is checked (the other options are 2.4 and 5.0). Is this a fault? I emailed Lenovo about this but no reply.
Should I create a new post with this issue? -
This card is nothing compared to the crappy Atheros AR wireless cards that Asus puts on their G series and N series laptops. Those are notorious for frequent disconnects.
-
You have to take 2.4. 5.0 is not supported.
-
From my experience, Ralink Wi-Fi adapters give the most reliable connection in the 2.4 GHz band. On my friend's HP with Ralink, the laptop never disconnects from the router. My other friend's laptop with Intel Wi-Fi, it occasionally disconnects and needed to disable/enable it again to connect properly.
As for ludovicien's problem, it might be that the ISP configured it to broadcast on 5 GHz only which is why the U430 never saw the network. -
Delete the wireless profile from the laptop and try again. Open command prompt and type:
netsh wlan delete profile name="ProfileName" (ProfileName is your wireless network's name)
If your laptop still can't detect the network, I would reset the router to default settings. Then only change the type to wireless N and security to AES. -

I just wanted to post here and mention I had the same problem as the OP and followed his/her solution and it worked with my U430 Touch. Thanks for the help.
