Intel graphics service/interface
You can disable them, they arent necessary. -
yeh same thing happened to me a few weeks back.
just disable them and youre good. -
Good to know. Thanks!
Any ideas as to why they're suddenly active now when they weren't before? Also, how could I prevent them from starting up again? -
Start > type MSconfig > Startup tab > Untick those 2 processes.
Im not sure, but they are usually active on a brand new system. -
Excellent. Thanks a lot!
this is why I love this forum. -
It is a bug in the latest ATI switchable drivers...hopefully the next release will fix it. In the mean time, do like the others and manually turn it off.

Aha, no wonder my COD4 wasn't running properly! Thanks dude
-
I read on blackviper.com that it's better to use "services.msc" in the Run box instead of "msconfig" for disabling services.
Any idea why? Or if that's even true? -
Theres a difference between services and startup. If it also has a service process, disable that aswell so it doesnt chew up resources.

Lately I've been having this problem:
"Windows Host Process Rundll32 has Stopped Working"
After a lot of googling I found that it's a pretty common problem and can be caused by a number of programs. For a lot of people it's caused by Nero, for others, some Vegas video software, and in my case, it's the ATI Catalyst Control Center.
I uninstalled the ATI drivers and that of course fixed the Rundll32.exe problem. When I reinstalled the drivers, the problem came back.
Then I uninstalled the drivers again, and reinstalled only the Display driver, and restarted. The Rundll32.exe problem didn't appear, but I also didn't have a way to control my ATI card. (Or do I?)
Next I ran the setup for the ATI drivers again, and this time installed only the missing ATI Catalyst Control Center. On reboot, there was no Rundll32.exe error, but the graphics didn't seem to be working properly. Vista aero effects seemed to lag.
Clicking on the power manager icon and hovering on switchable graphics showed that I was set to High performance graphics (I thought maybe it was set to power saving, but no cigar).
So, I went ahead and switched to power saving. Then switched back to the high performance (the graphics card). No errors, no problems with the graphics/vista aero so far. Finally fixed everything.
However, now since I reinstalled the card drivers, this igfxsrvc is up and running again, and before I disable it like I did last time, I was curious as to whether or not letting it run is critical for the ATI drivers to load properly and not interfere with the Rundll32.exe?
It's eating like 50% of the CPU at all times, but if ATI CCC messes up again, that Rundll32 error is one royal pain in my.... Thinkpad.
Another question:
I disabled these igfxsrvc.exe processes last time. I uninstalled and deleted all files related to my video drivers when I was going through all that troubleshooting above, and now even though these processes appear as activated again in my msconfig and I can disable them again, the igfxsrvc that I disabled last time is also still showing up in msconfig (still disabled though). Did I not get to all my driver files when I was deleting them or is that just a shoddy memory on Vista's part?
EDIT:
When I say ATI drivers, I mean the big lenovo 155mb bundled driver for switchable graphics + ATI cards for like the W500, T500, and 1 or 2 other models. No separate ATI driver for my mobility 5700 fire gl yet. -
there is a problem with the latest version of drivers installed. i did not find that problem in earlier versions of igfxsrvc
ok, what the hell is igfxsrvc?
