Hi all,
Is it possible to cancel an order with IBM if the Thinkpad hasn't shipped yet (and won't for awhile, according to their site)? I ordered one on Friday and then found out about the Visa discount, which would save me a whole lotta money.
I called customer support and they said I'd have to wait for the notebook to get to me, then return it, which is okay but seems convoluted at best. I thought that in browsing through these forums I'd heard about people cancelling their orders -- would you mind sharing how I'd go about doing that?
Many thanks!

You really should be able to cancel. They haven't even charged your credit card yet for crying out loud. Call back and if they give you the run around, ask for a supervisor.

You can always refuse delivery.

I've heard you could have the visa discount applied after the purchase. That is , if you used a visa in the first place.

Hello rebeccavich,
What is this Visa discount you speak of? Sounds very interesting.

I canceled my notebook from Lenovo the next day. First I sent an email and then I followed up with a phone call. They naturally kept me holding "helping others" for about 20 mins. And after a really lame excuse about how they are already configuring my notebook which was indicated by the website as taking 2-4 weeks for delivery the customer service said they would send an email to the people building my notebook to cancel the order, but there was no guarantee.
She CC'd me on the email and said that in the event that I do receive the notebook I have 30 days to return it for a full refund, which I thought was pretty good. Well, a couple days later when I checked the status of the canceled notebook it finally said "canceled" instead of "in progress". So don't believe what they say on customer service, it really does take 2 weeks to build a custom notebook. It also takes another 5 days to ship it from Kowloon, HK via UPS express. I expect to receive my newly configured T43P today, and the total time from date of order to hopefully receiving it was exactly 14 days.
I actually plan on putting the 30 days thing to the test, since I think I am going to order one with a fingerprint scanner, this one did not come with it and it's only $60 more for the option. Unless someone can talk me out of it, like it's a waste of money.
Hope this feedback helps,

Never mind, I did find the Visa and AmEx discount pages in a different post. However, the price for the system I want, using both the Visa and AmEx is exactly the same as the price shown in the regular Lenovo page, so not quite sure where the discount comes into place.
Thanks -
