I ordered a SL500 on 8/08 from Lenovo's website but after they delayed my order to 2 month wait (10/02) I went looking at alternatives. Found a better thinkpad on another site and purchased it last night. Since Lenovo's calling system closes at 9PM I had to wait to today to call. I get home from work today and I get an email saying they shipped my order.
Now I am in a bind, is there anything I can besides not sign for the Lenovo order and have to eat the 15% stocking fee?
***UPDATE***
Good news. After being on hold for 20 minutes got a hold of customer support and told them what happened. They said that as long as I don't sign for it and have it sent back to them that they will refund the amount with out a restocking fee.
The guy seemed pretty understanding with the 2 month wait memo I had received. Guy was definitely not from India so overall good experience, just down some more minutes on my cell and hope Lenovo really comes up with a better way of determining the ship dates on their computers.

Well you can call them and complain saying that you were tired of waiting for that long period and did not want to deal with them. Let them know you ultimately decided to not buy their product and went elsewhere. Say the restocking fee would not be fair, etc. See what they say. Worse case scenario go through your credit card company to refuse the charge, etc.

I think you are going to have to pay for the 15% restocking fee. Lenovo estimated shipping times are the most inconsistent and inaccurate times out of all the computer companies. I hate dealing with the sales rep they have because they do not speak any English. Have you considering returning the laptop you just got and keeping the original thinkpad?

Hindsight is 20/20, but you probably should have canceled before ordering the new one, especially in light of how difficult it is to return a ThinkPad nowadays. Any chance you could return the one you ordered last night without a fee?

Just call and find out. Talk to a manager/supervisor...just find out and don't rely on responses we give here.
