This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    ordering Recovery CDs

    I'm hoping someone in the know might be able to give a straight answer to this one...

    I've heard multiple times from different sources that you can call IBM/Lenovo for your Recovery CDs within 30 days of the original purchase to get them shipped for free. However, when I did call them up, they said this practice has been discontinued for the last couple of years and I have to pay $45 if I wanted them...

    Is this true? Anyone actually got their free CDs recently? Or maybe I just happened to talk to a clueless person in support?

    On the newer notebooks you should be able to burn off the recovery discs. The policy has not been in place for a couple years because I got my discs for my T41 last decemeber.
