    Will someone please tell me what the "p" after the model as in "t61p" means and/or stands for and/or what the difference between the t61 and the t61p.

    it usually denotes the workstation model that has the top of the line (at least for its size class) workstation gpu and uxga screen (if you want it)

    so the t61p would be much better than the t61?

    Usually yes. But if you do not need a workstation video card and the highest resolution screen, stick with the T61.
