Hi, am planning to pimp my Y410 (if possible) aside from the planned 320GB HD.

here's the current specs of my Y410

    - 1.66GHz
    - 160GB HD
    - 4GB ram
    - DVD/CD+RW combo drive

any suggestions that can possibly be pimped with its mechanism ?
like e.g graphics ? (lol is that possible ?)
please list down the possible tweaks that can be done

You cannot upgrade the GPU. Other than the hard drive if you need the space, I'd say save your money.

Not worth the trouble, my opinion of course.

I actually did swap my CPU from the T2300 to the T7400, but only did so cause I got the T7400 for like $30, at which point it was worth it. If you can find a CPU at that price point, then maybe you should do it. Keep in mind you will more than likely void your warranty if you care. I don't know about the Ideapads, but Lenovo bar codes CPUs on ThinkPads. They may not notice, but could make an issue of it if they decided.

About the only thing left on my original R60 is the case and the WiFi card. All the other major parts were swapped:

    CPU - T2300 to T7400
    Memory - 512MB to 3GB
    Hard Drive - 60GB 5400RPM to 500GB 7200RPM
    Motherboard - X1300 Board to X1400 Board
LCD - SXGA+ to SXGA+ IPS to UXGA IPS
Optical Drive - Combo Drive to BD-R

Zaz is right, paying 200-300 dollars for about 10-20% performance increase is not worth the money IMHO.

What chip you got in there anyways?

i dunno most of the internal parts. my machine is

    Y410 T5450 59012531
warranty is finished ..been using this for more then a year already.

maybe I can change the processor into 2.something GHz, after upgrading my HD space

(and maybe when i have enough money, I'll sell that machine and buy a thinkpad T400s lol and pimp it again)

in that case you're better off saving the money and buying the t400s instead. it's not really worth "pimping" a y410 imnsho

^ agreed. And getting a slighty better processor isnt really "pimping" it out.

Maybe if you somehow got a water cooling system in that system with a i7 mobile cpu with a chrome finish and a rear diffuser, a fart cannon and some brembo brakes... Then that would be a riced out car... I mean laptop
