I'm lucky if I get an hour of use till I get the plug in warning,Just surfing the web with Nvidia turned off.Is this the norm for this machine? My power option is set to balanced.

    Nope, not normal.

Are you starting from a full 100% charge? If your power settings are set to "best battery health" the Y570 will keep the battery charged at 50%.

I don't know about the Y570, but I have the Y470 and know that there are 2 different sizes of battery that are sold with it. I have the smaller battery and get about 2 hours on energy star setting.
