I have the x61 that I got from Ebay but I having a hard time being able to tell if I have the 'slim line' or 'extended 4 cell' battery. How can someone physically tell? I know they have product # of 40y6999(slimline) and 40y7001(extended) but it doesnt have those anywhere on the battery.
Im just curious what I have but either way, it only gets less than 2 hours with wifi on after a clean install.

If it's an IBM/Lenovo battery, it will have the FRU and ASM numbers on it somewhere. If not, it's a third party battery.

You can probably tell in the Power Manager app as well if you have that installed. Look under "Battery Information".

If you have the X61 and not the X61s, then you have the 4 cell extended. The X61s can take both the slim line and the 4 cell extended.

Another way to tell is by looking at the battery. The 4 cell extended is cylindrical shape and the slim line is flat.

Yes, Sp00n is correct. The X61 can only use the 4-cell Enhanced Capacity battery (40Y7001) and the 8-cell High Capacity battery (40Y7003).

You can tell by the shape of the battery
