    Hi,

I've got a 3-4 year old x31 which I've just installed Vista on with relatively few problems (well apart from the lack of a driver for the graphics card). A while ago, the plug failed on the end of the power adaptor lead (the bit that plugs into the laptop). For the past year or so I've been managing with an older charger for a different laptop and I think I may have killed the battery slowly in the process.

Does anyone know if you can buy the plugs which go on the end of the leads from anywhere. I've tried maplins and RS but nothing looks right. I'm quite happy with a soldering iron (I'm sure the original ones are crimped, I know). If anyone knows where I can get a plug from, please let me know...

    Cheers
    Dave

Is RS Radio Shack? I guess they have those in the UK as well.

I suggest just getting a new A/C adapter. It shouldn't cost more than $30 (which is around 18 pounds, or 12 euros, I believe). Try eBay for the best prices.
