Hey, Im about to buy a t61p, but I'm not goign to be home from the 18th to the 22nd. And I am afrai that my laptop will arrive superfast as is sometiems the case and that I wont be home to pick it up! So it'll be sitting on my front porch for 3 or 5 days! thus i want to buy it as late as possible to give myself peace of mind.

But the 25% off offer ends on the 16th. So if I use the price quote option when checking out, can I still buy the laptop at the price it was before June 16th?

And when is the latest I should order it so that I dont have to wait long after I get back from vacation?

This should be no problem. Just config your machine on Lenovo's site the way you want and apply any and all discounts. Save your config as a quote. You see this option on the last page. Don't click "order" but click on the "convert to quote button". With convert to quote you can't pay with Paypal. Just keep that in mind. Once you save this config as a quote you will get a quote emailed to you with the quote number, config and price you configured it for. No worries now, you will have this price locked in for 30 days from the day you created the quote, regardless of what pricing changes that Lenovo makes. You can order the machine any time with in the 30 days for the price promised. BTW - you can create a quote without actually creating an account, but can go in as guest.

If you are worried about the machine sitting on the porch, just make your quote before the deal you want expires and order the machine when you get back. This way you know you will be home when it arrives :D

Any other questions on this just ask, I have done this a bunch of times.

I've never had the UPS guy just leave something on my front door if I wasn't home. They leave a note where they say they will come back the next day or you can come pick it up at their facility.

I spoke with a UPS service rep on the phone. They said that Lenovo is very strict about the laptop delivery as compared to other companies. UPS will not leave the package and won't accept a release form, they must have your signature. They will try to deliver the package 3 times or so and if no one is there after the 3rd time they take the package back and keep it for a few days. You can arrange for a pickup, but if it is not picked up with in a few days then they send the package back to Lenovo.

As long as the neighborhood kids don't have an opportunity to get their hands on an alcoholic beverage, I guess it's all good. :p

Will XP apply to this quote? If I have it quoted with XP and they stop selling XP in mid-June, will the quote let me buy it with XP at the end of June?

I tried to figure out how to get price quote but it seemed like I couldn't  Didn't see anything like "price quote" to click on  Did you mean "email cart" or "save cart"?

You have to add to cart and create an account or do guest checkout. It only lets you price quote at the very end where it asks for your credit card. Don't put it in and click on price quote instead.

    Sorry gnuh,
I missed your question. Here is what you do...

1.) Go to Lenovos site and select the machine you want to customize and buy.
2.) Go to the customization screen and choose all the components you want, system components, services and software(i.e. warranty etc), and accessories.
3.) Once you have continued and made all your choices, you should be on the summary review screen.
4.) Add the config to your cart by clicking the "Add to cart" button.
5.) Once you click the button you should be on the page that says "Shopping cart" and should have your machine config and the total for your machine. At this screen use any of the ecoupons that you have and apply them. Once you are finished click on "Lenovo Checkout".
6.) Now you should be on the "Welcome to checkout" screen where returning customers can login or you can go in as guest. You can select to go in as guest - proceed to guest checkout.
7.) Now you should be on a screen asking for your billing and payment info. Fill all the necessary fields out and continue to the next screen(make sure you provide an accurate email address since this is where the quote will be sent to).
8.) The final screen should be the where you review your config and pay for it. On the very bottom of the page there should be a "order" button and a "convert to quote" button. Make sure you don't accidentally click order.
9.) Once you click the "convert to quote" button, you should get an email with your config and your locked in price for 30 days.
10.) To order you can click on the "order" button in your quote sent to your email.

Hope that helps and is detailed enough.
