I usually use the shareholder discount, but today the price of the X61s is higher than it was last week AND the coupon codes are no longer stackable. Using the shareholder site, price for X61s last week (configured with 2 MB RAM on 1 DIMM and intel wifi-all other options standard and not changed from default)) was 1009 and is now 1045 with none of the coupons working- tried about a dozen codes. (not including tax or any extented warranty) Can I do better than this? It seems too expensive. How much better can I do, and how should I do it?? thanks much.

    Hi Sam,

Have you tried the 20% off coupone for xseries?

Save 20% off the X61 series ultraportable notebooks! Use coupon code: USPXSERIES (expires after 200 redemptions) THINKPAD X SERIES NOTEBOOK DEALS

Why do you use the shareholder discount when you're not a shareholder? lol

Use the CPP site which is open to anyone. It will always have the best overall pricing.

X61s starts at $978 there. PM me for more info :)

I had tried that code from the spp site (shareholders) and it wasn't valid. I'm assuming that it was because it wasn't stackable, rather than having already been used 200 times -tho who knows. in the past, all these codes could be used from the shareholder's site.

i have not tried using it from the regular site. quick glance suggested that it would make the price cheaper, but wasnm't sure how much unless I go thru all the steps. having already abandoned my cart several times, I'm taking a breather before trying it again.

    thanks.

    Hi.
$978 is also currently the base price for the X61s on the sharholder site too (before it was $939 on the shareholder site). So it looks like it's not any cheaper on the CPP site (which i have not been to) -UNLESS coupon codes can be used in additio on the CPP site. But i remember reading a few days ago that no one was able to do so from that site either (either now, or always) - True?

I'm not sure why shareholder discount site, whether one was or was not a shareholder (I am by the way-perhaps that's what's funny, though since we're all buying lenovos you can't really make fun of owning a stake), would be LOL. But ok, L is good for the soul and the immune system.

price on x61s is only about 200 cheaper than it was way back in march, and given how many new things have occurred since then it seems too expensive.

hmmm, i dont know what the shareholder site is, but i just went through the regular site and used the coupon yesterday.

I used the same code yesterday to buy an x61 with 2 gigs ram for 930 after tax.
gotapex, a coupon/bargains site i frequent posted the same code 2 days in a row, so either they didnt sell 200 worth yesterday, or they are alloting 200 more today.

    Good luck!

    that seems pretty good, tho
the x61 was $140 less than the x61s when last I checked; i'm guessing regular site with 20% for either model is going to end up at jsut about the same as the pricing I can get. I guess I shouldn't complain, tho I was hoping to get the x61s configured like I described it for under 1000 before taxes and warranty extenstion, especially since it was cheaper before and I hate the idea of the price going up rather than down.
