what's the problem with my USB ports?
they are all 2.0 right? i mean all computers now come equiped with it.
a while ago, i connected my new sony handycam dcr-sr80 (60GB HDD cam). after i connected it, some blah blah notice in my taskbar popped up saying that i should connect my device to a 2.0 port to utilize the maximum speed, as i am going to get the ever-fast USB 1.1 speed.
then i clicked the notice and this window showed up telling me that my device is connected in a USB hub, making it slow. i do not get it. it told me to connect my device to a port that is highlighted. but then, how would i tell where it is?! i tried all three ports and still the results are the same.
now i have to upload 8GB of videos in this speed. i can't bear it. sony software is even crappy making my problems worst. now i browse my cam as an external harddrive just to get the videos. and where am i going with this... my video transfer is freaking slow![]()

You should reinstall the USB Drivers (probably come with the mainboard driver disks). It seems with wasn't properly configured in the first place.
-
are they on the recovery disks?!
oh my... am i talking about recovery here?! i do not want that to happen... -
Kimi, USB drivers come courtesy from Windows XP from SP1 on or something.

Are you connecting your camera through the dock to your computer or directly from the camera to the computer? My thinking is that the camera might not be 2.0 compliant for some reason. The specifications I found for your camera say 2.0 compliant with the dock.

my camera has this dock. i place it there and connect it to my usb port. the camera does not have a direct mini-usb connection like some cameras...

Follow Ice-Tea's advice and upgrade to at least SP1 for your high speed usb to work. SP2 would even b better
-
this came with XP Pro SP2.
