    hi all
i just bought a refurb x200s from ebay.
the laptop looks beautiful with only a few very light 'scratches" near the finger print scanner. everything looks brand new!!
    woopie!!!

i connected the battery and charged the batt via the ac adapter (w/o turning on the computer)
the green plug icon lights up and the low level yellow batt icon blinks ..

is the low yellow batt icon suppose to blink for a long time?
its about 30 mins charging and it still blinking.......

battery error? Either your battery is dead or the motherboard circuitboard is dead, hopefully the former and not the latter.

Try turning your system on with the AC adapter plugged in. Does it boot?

    had a busy day.
yeah the laptop boots alright and you can do everything as per normal with the AC adapter plugged in

the power management system says the battery is in "good condition" and
    under "Status" it shows "charging"
but everything else about capacity and percentages are blanked

the battery widget and bottom % value just stays at ZERO

without the AC adapter, the laptop does not boot up..

i guess the original lenovo battery is dead
    now what?
hope the warranty will replace it for me.
i bought this from the ebay seller and he said he will facilitate the exchange.
i like the laptop so don't plan on returning it
besides the owner did not open the refurb box as the seals were intact so its not his fault this dumb battery died

ThinkPad warranties follow the machine, not the buyer. There's no need for the original buyer to facilitate the exchange. There's a link in the sticky which lets you see if it's under warranty. If it is, you just need to contact support. If not, you'll need a new battery. You might want to open power manager to see the remaining wattage and cycle count on the battery.

    there is nothing there
    just blank

    funny thing is
    now the battery says "
"The battery was completely discharged and needs to be recharged. This might take 10 hours or more"

    eh???
    its still showing 0%

most likely a dead battery, did the seller tell you that the battery is dead?

    alright
here is an update but its still not looking good

    1) lenovo mailed me another battery. i put the battery in and both green icons lit up. well i thought thats good. however shortly after (<2mins), both lights disappeared......!!!!

it seems that the mb or circuit board is dead =(
    the battery is not charging.
there are no lights even with the ac adapter on and battery removed.
the service line told me to press the on/off switch 10 times and hold it down for 30 seconds after that to discharge static. that did not help.
looks like the new battery killed the motherboard !?!

side note (though it doesnt matter since the laptop is dead)
when the battery is inserted and the ac adapter is on, the base of the laptop (near the metal connector that connects to the base) becomes extremely hot. its so hot that i cannot touch it for more than 10 seconds.

    2) so i have a problem because i was going to leave USA for Hong Kong with this laptop on Wednesday Aug 11th
the warranty on this refurb unit requires the laptop to be mailed in. they will not send a technician out to fix it onsite. i have to wait for 1-3 business days to get the laptop fix but that would not be in time for my travels. (i will be in hong kong for 4 months)

i was told to go to a business partner
bplocator.lenovo.com to try and get it fixed.
can anyone comment on using a business partner to fix the lenovo laptops?

or should i return the laptop to the ebay vendor? ?! ( i prefer not to only because i don't want to deal with the hassle and i dont have time to find another good deal before i leave in 4 days!)

    help!
