i recently ordered a x201 and i am looking forward to receiving it. i know that the order status page for lenovo doesn't show any status that indicates that they have started building your laptop and just goes from "in process" to shipped. i was told that i can call a toll free number that will get a more up to date status, has anyone called the number ((866)428-4465) before? my ship date is on the 23rd and i am hoping that they can get it shipped earlier. how many days before the estimated ship date do they usually ship the laptop from china? since the x201 is already a few months old i am hoping that there will be no delay

Once it has shipped, you'll see a "Track Order" button appear on the order page and from there you can monitor it's progress via the shipper's tracking number.

I never called them. You probably wouldn't get much info out of them other than "in process" or whatever. It won't take long -- you'll soon be able to track the shipment. Then the real fun begins, especially when you see it stuck in Customs for days. (That won't necessarily happen, but it can.)

They won't open the box unless they have a reason to believe it has something "fishy" in it. Very unlikely.

I wouldn't accept an opened box from the shipper. I'd send it back and make Lenovo send me another one.

your package won't be opened.   if it does get stuck in customs (which is more rare than what forums would lead you to think) then it's a matter of sorting out paperwork, not rifling through boxes to make sure the goods inside are legitimate.

online status is usually just as accurate as what the phone sales staff can access.   i suggest only calling if you have a concern.   otherwise the online status works perfectly fine and is updated in real-time when your system ships.

It seems it's just a matter of luck. I think Customs picks shipping containers at random to check out. If you're unlucky, they pick the container that your box is in. Mine was stuck in Customs in Ontario, Calif. for 3 days. The "2-day business shipping" only applies AFTER customs clears it. Sure enough, 2 days later it was in my hands.

I ordered on June 24 and received it on July 6.
