    I've read a lot of reviews praising the quality of ibm flexview ips screens, and I'm wondering if users can comment as to the quality of contrast, saturation and overall color reproduction.

    I recently purchased a z61m and returned it because I found the screen quality to be rather lackluster (however, I loved pretty much everything else about it). Like other thinkpads I've used, what bothered me the most was the dark and very blue-ish quality of the display, and attempting to adjust the color balance and gamma settings did not help much.

    With the IPS technology, is the color really that much better than non-IPS thinkpad displays? Is there still a blue-ish tint? My old work laptop is an R32, which has terrible color representation, and the z61m was not much better. I'm a graphic designer, so this is very important; I would love to own a Thinkpad though, as the build quality, etc is phenomenal.

    Thanks for any feedback.

    IPS is the closest thing an LCD has to a CRT(S-IPS and S-PVA on desktop LCDs now) in terms of colours, viewing angles and sharpness, though because of that, it'll lack in response time.

    IIRC, Office Depot carries ThinkPads, perhaps you can go by one and check it out(T60)?

    It's a fantastic screen yes, you can find tons of feedback in this forum if you use the search feature and look for "flexview" or "ips" so do that, checkout my experience with the screen here: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2767

    Also search the "News and Reviews" forum for the term flexview to dig up reviews there that cover this screen.

    I can assure you that the colors ARE very different on an IPS flexview screen and a regular screen. I've seen it firsthand because I've worked with both side-by-side.

    All very good and I am completely satisfied.
    But perhaps Sony's screen is the best.

    thanks very much for the responses; extremely helpful; perhaps the lenovo t series is the laptop I've been searching for all along; I'm curious though, is lenovo/ibm the only laptop with the ips/flexview technology? if not, what are some other brands that offer this type of display? finally, does ips always come in the form of a matte display, or in that of glossy as well?

    All IPS Flexview displays are matte only
    These are business machines, and the glare inside an office from a glossy screen is intolerable to business men & women.

    This board has too many kids who wanna play games & watch movies on a laptop, lol

    The Asus V6va had an glossy IPS screen, but is no longer offered.

    here's another question: do ALL t60's with 15" screens necessarily come with the IPS/Flexview screen? I'm thinking of making a trip to OfficeDepot to see if they have some on the floor, and if so, I want to be sure I'm viewing the right screen (thus, so I don't just write off a model that may actually not have the IPS screen).........thanks;

    one yeah, one more: do t60s come in 15.4 screen size, or is 15 the biggest?

    15.4 is a widescreen, all T series are 4:3. Among the 15" T-series; 1024x768 is not Flexview, 1400x1050 (SXGA) and 1600x1200 (UXGA) are Flexview. My local Office Depot did not have any Flexview laptops on display.

    I bought my T43 with Flexview for photo editing, love it.
