You know there are three buttons there.

the middle one my new x201 fell off. I was able to put it back, but is this normal?

are you supposed to be able to remove it without taking off the keyboard? because, if i want i can still take it off...

That doesn't sound normal, the trackpoint buttons are usually robust under normal use so it shouldn't just "fall off". If the machine is still in warranty you should bring the issue with Lenovo, hopefully they'll be able to give you a replacement keyboard to fix the problem.

I just got this one two days ago...
I called and they are sending a new keyboard.

Is it easy to put on?

i see two bars, one on each side of the button. maybe they are supposed to be in some holes or something, but they are not. so if i move the button towards me. it will come off.

The keyboard is generally easy to access and replace on a ThinkPad. You just need to be aware of the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard underneath to the system.

Use the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your system ( link here) which gives you detailed instructions and diagrams on the procedure. [Specifically see page 102/322]
