i am looking to buy 2GB DDR3 from Lenovo cpp and i find that there are two models. i don't know if they are identical
43R1988
43R2046 (top seller memory)
which is a better buy? is the first one more reliable than the second? From the tab book, i found out it is being used in onsite service?
Thanks in advance
Martin

I say buy the cheaper one
-
whats the difference!
i think im going to go on newegg and buy the extra 2gb from gskill! -
-
there is no difference in the price, the top seller memory costs about 66$. the cheapest on new egg is iram for 63$. i am ordering through cpp.
-
is there a software to determine whether the ram in my thinkpad is one DIMM or two DIMM without opening the front panel?

and the cheapest on newegg is 59.99+free shipping... and its gskill. from personal experience it doesnt get any better. just ordered mine today.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231212
and dont be concerned about the idiot who gave it a 2 out of 5 because his mac didnt support it... in the second reivew another person with a mac said it worked fine. and if you check gskill's website you can see that they have different memory for mac laptops so i guess they must be working on ddr3 for macs. -
if you are thinking of buying ddr3, try the lenovo cpp now. The prices have been dropped. After applying the coupon available now, 2GB ddr3 topseller memory costs around 47.08$ without taxes

Now is a good time
And if bought through lenovo it is covered by my upgraded system warranty too.
with the P/N 43R1988 it says all models for all types
with the Top Seller P/N 43R2046 it says compatability with
Thinkpad T400 7417, 2765, 6476, 2767
The 7417 is integrated graphics only, and mine is 2764, so I wonder if the RAM is at all different.
Is it worth saving the $2 per stick to get the Top Seller one? Probably not. I saved a lot getting the 1GB option on notebook and now getting 4GB as accessories with 20% off. -

I couldnt find anything much on the 43R2046 but the Lenovo product info page that specified it was compatable with 4 types of Thinkpads. If its newer that should be better, maybe, not much info on anything, but since it cost me about $20 less and it still works with my upgraded system warranty when installed Lenovo turned out a lot better than Newegg for once. although I got a 320Gb 7200RPM drive from Newegg for $69

i own a t500 2055, the tabook indicates that 43R1988 is supported though you can see that 43R2046 is supported from the link. maybe lenovo did not update the list for t400 as it did to t500.
there are missing models from the ram supported list but they are all models with number +1 to the supported model (eg. 2056). either lenovo assumes that they are supported because of the consecutive serial numbers or they are new models that are not yet updated in the ram supported list.
it will take a week or two by the time my ram arrives. i will confirm whether pairing a 43R1988 with a 43R2046 works. -
Thanks, yeah thats the product info page I was talking about, where it shows only select types of T400 and models ALL. Well my T400 isnt one of those types, which makes me wonder.
The older RAM said for all types and all models. -

At the Lenovo site, they say the DDR3 runs at "5 Clock Cycles." That is kind of low latency for DDR3, if true. The other memory at Newegg have latencies of 7,8, and 9.
*EDIT* Okay I checked my T400 with CPU-Z and it says the latency is 7-7-7-20. The ram on Lenovo's site must be the same then. -
hey pacmandelight... you have 4gb installed but what shows up on task manager??

Nice Desktop Pacman, what kind of 3Dmark scores do you get with two dual GPU cards? I just got my first 24" monitor.
question about top seller memory
