    Hi Everyone,

Hoping some of the experts can help me out on this...

I just ordered a t44os through the Lenovo Outlet - not realizing that Lenovo had changed the design of the touchpad to eliminate the discrete, physical buttons.

In searching these forums, I learned that I can purchase a three-button touchpad (on, e.g., eBay) and then install this on the t440s. I understand that I will need to install older drivers.

For those of you who have done this: Does the middle button function as a scroll, so that I can hold the middle button down and then scroll via the trackpoint?

Thanks in advance. I use the trackpoint exclusively and can't the design was changed.

    Joe

I replaced the original clickpad in my T440p with the three-button clickpad and am running the older driver that works for most people and their T440s and T440p systems. Holding down the middle button and using the trackpoint for scrolling does indeed work well for me.

I did the conversion as well (on my T440s) but middle-button scrolling is pretty janky. It's not smooth at all and is either very fast or very slow. I've resorted to installing a "smooth scroll" extension on Chrome, but it still doesn't work well. And that's only specific to Chrome. System-wide scrolling is still pretty annoying. There is no way to adjust the "lines per scroll" setting or whatever in the mouse properties, so it's basically very fast scrolling. Like from the top to the bottom of the page in a split second.

What drivers are you using? I can't recall the one I installed, but after trying the one that most say works, it never did. I think I have the Yoga 15 drivers?

Anyhow, OP - at least in my experience it's really nice to have the physical buttons back, but it's not without tradeoffs, namely very fast and non-silky smooth middle button scrolling. Also the buttons/trackpad sometimes just stop working and you have to reboot.

Unless I've missed something - help?
