Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has ordered a laptop from Visaperks in Canada. I am looking to buy a computer on that site which seems to have some good prices compared to the standard retail web prices.
My questions are:
1. Is this a good way to buy, is there any disadvantages to buy on visaperks instead of from lenovo?![]()
2. How long does it usually take for them to deliver?
3. Is the return policy still the same? (Their terms and conditions states that return period is within 30days, link, however I am a little worried about this line "There are no returns on designated Lenovo Canada Inc. Offerings (such as Lenovo Canada Inc. Employee Purchase Plans and Special Promotions). " Does the specials on visa perks fall in this category?
Thanks so much for the help, I am looking forward to getting that shinny T60 with core 2 duo.

1. Disadvantage: You can only pay with Visa
2. I would say a T60 model would take about 3 weeks
3. I would call in to ask about the return policy for purchases made through VISA promotion. -
Which model [number] are you looking to get [that has a Core 2 Duo]?

Hi Momo26,
I want to buy 2623K8U, it is the last model on this page. Its is a top seller model.
Here are the specs from this page:
Operating System: Genuine Windows XP Professional Screen: 15.0 SXGA+IPS TFT FlexVie 1400x1050 Onboard Graphic Chipset: ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 Onboard Audio: Intel High Definition Audio Included Modem: 56Kbps data/14.4Kbps fax Hard Drive Controller: Serial ATA Onboard Network Contoller: Gigabit Ethernet- Integrated 1000Mbps,100Mbps,10M Battery Type: 9 Cell Lithium-Ion PCMCIA Support: 1 Type I/II and 1 ExpressCard/54 or 34 External Speakers: 2 (Internal Speakers) Warranty: Three years parts and labor (system battery: one year) Wireless:Bluetooth
I currently own an R52 which is an year and half old, so I believe I will get a nice performance boost from this upgrade. -
That's a pretty solid looking machine. Everything looks good, but I would confirm about the warranty. I think it is the standard warranty procedure and you deal directly with Lenovo.

Purchases made on visaperks are fully refundable, even if used, provided you return the item within 30 days. They will even pay the return shipping, arranging a courier to pick it up.
The time to delivery is unpredictable because it depends on inventory and manufacturing dynamics. In fact, it could be 2 days or 5 weeks or anything inbetween. When you order, you will get an e-mail advising you of your estimated delivery date. In reality, the actual delivery will likely be sooner that the estimate.
EPP purchases are returnable only if the product has a defect. although i have returned something with which i was dissatisfied. If you have a relative or close friend willing to share his code (there are limited purchases per employee), the epp price for this specific item in canada would save you $177in total compared to the visaperks price. -
SkiBunny, do you think the EPP prices will fall come post-XMas or New Years? Or will there more appealing configs in the same price ranges? From your experience...
-
Oh and BTW, did you notice the rise in the price of upgrading RAM? 1GB from $136 to $158. (Plus having them install it in the machine is an additional $39 - talk about practically free money - on their part).
-
i dont monitor the price of ram upgrades on lenovo but that increase doesn't surprise me. I do know that RAM has risen in price on ebay auctions. This is the busiest time of year for consumer notebook sales and the time when RAM is highest in demand. Demand (and prices) will drop again in winter likely as per usual.
oh i expect that thinkpad prices, whether at visaperks or epp or website, will almost certainly be lower by late january than they are now (or you will get more bang for your buck). -
But now EPP is available to everyone (?). That's hard to beat.

Thanks Momo26. Does standard warranty mean that I wouldn't be able to go to lenovo's various retailers and drop it off directly but I will have to send to lenovo's own repair center and return it myself? Or it just means that warranty wouldn't be "On site".
Thanks Skinbunny, that pleasing to know. I don't know anyone working for IBM so I guess I will have to go with visaperks. Being able to return is really important for me because of the dreaded dead pixel policy. -
Hey guys,
Just one more question, Can you order by phone (with visaperks savings), or do you have to order online? -
in canada or the US or both? -
In the US. It is called You Pay What We Pay and expires on Dec. 18.
See this thread:

wobby, if it is 3-year Depot warranty, you have to send the machine there to be serviced. If it is "On-site" a technicial will come to your home.
You can order by phone but the actual placing of the order to get the discount will be through Visaperks.com. You'll have to pay by credit card online as far as I know, a sales rep will want to 'monitor and assist you in the transaction'; surely a way for commission, nothing more as they can't offer you the same prices available on visaperks. If I were going through Visa Perks, I would order, pay and track online. Once you've order, just call and ask about the current state of your notebook (using your transaction/tracking number) - just get yourself in the system via telephone. -
Thanks again Momo for your help, it is greatly appreciated.
I am going to go ahead and make the purchase online later. I will update you guys once I recieve more information.
Cheers
