    1. i bought extra 4gb ram, is it ok to add it before first boot up?
    2. power supply & battery handling - most of the time i can plug, but how should i take care the battery in all this time?
    4. read some thread here about charging limits, 30-80%, and avoiding full cycles(?)

    Answers to your quns:
    1) Yes
2 & 3): You can adjust the charge threshold using power manager. I have mine (in a T420 and an X60s) set to charge only up to 74% and to start charging when the battery is below 50%. While I don't fully understand the science behind it, it seems to work in terms of prolonging the life of the battery.

Always run the system for a while before upgrading anything hardware or installing anything software. That way, you can make sure the device is properly working out-of-the-box. Do indeed inspect it for physical deformities as well.

And don't forget to make a recovery disk (likely a USB drive given that it's an X220).

    1) You can install the RAM before you power it on, but as stated above, if you power on before the upgrade then you know it works.
    2) Some people set charge thresholds @ 95/40, TBH I've never really had to deal with it, and my ThinkPad batteries are just fine, minus the fact I've only had Sanyo. >:[
