Any recommendations for battery charge schedule to maximize the overall battery life. This is my first laptop so I have no experience here. Mine is plugged in most of the time with maybe 1 to 2 hrs a day on battery. I just set it at 45/80% but was looking for suggestions from folks that have had laptops awhile. It's a 6cell battery on T520. thanks.

"Automatically optimize for battery lifespan" works pretty well for me. The battery is still in good state after one year of constantly being connected to AC.

I would say "Automatically optimize..." works fine. Batteries die over time but the specification of your laptop also gets out-dated over time so nothing to worry about it. Just remember not to leave the battery at 0%, which would cause the battery degrade fast.

Ideally you could keep the battery at 40%-60% for maximum lifespan but I don't see much point unless you plan to use the laptop and the battery for over 3 years.

I mainly use my x220 at home with maybe a couple of hours at the library once a week. I initially had it on 'optimise for battery lifespan' but now have it stop charging at 96% (and start charging at 92%). Apparently, it's not good to charge to 100%.

Also gave it a complete discharge and recharge at the 3-month mark. Not sure if that was a good thing to do or not.

The only trouble with doing that is that you are bound to forget to fully charge it before going on the road. At least I might. However, if I wasn't using the battery, charging it to 60% and sticking it in the fridge seems to be recommended.
