I clean installed XP Pro onto my T60 with the SXGA+ screen.

With the new OS in, the font sizes are really quite small compared to what they were out-of-factory.

When the lappy first arrived with XP HOME, everything was set to 'normal', 'medium', '96 DPI'. And the fonts are very readable compared to now.

I made notes of the old desktop settings and I have the same DPI setting, and same font size setting as those out-of-factory.

    Am I just missing something?

actually if someone can save their out-of-factory theme, I would really appreciate it. I think that might be the problem. perhaps I am Arial is not the default font or something.

Similar issue with my z61m wsxga+. I was very happy with the font size, etc from the box. Playing with a few other desktop appearance settings and everything is much smaller. Haven't figured out how to get things back, so when I remember will call Lenovo support...they've answered everything else so guessing they'll know.

Let us know if you figure it out. To compensate for now, I've got dpi set at 105%.

I am using a dpi set of 115% and set to 'cleartype' on. It improves things a bit, but not perfect. So anyone who knows the customization factory-defaults, sharing would be greatly appreciated!

I remember going through the same on my T42 when switched to XP Pro. I ended up going to 120 DPI setting (125% of normal). But, the most significant improvement was when I installed Omega drivers ( www.omegadrivers.net). I'm pretty sure those are compatible with x1300/x1400 video card (can anybody confirm?).

I really think Lenovo has its own set of fonts and icons optimized for the SVGA+ resolution. Questions is.. how do we update ours to theirs?
