So I just opened the recovery program, and made a recovery disc, but the thing is that it only burned 1 disc. I thought it takes a total of 2 dvd discs? I popped in a DVD disc and it burned about 600megs of data, and that was it. Is that all that needed to be done, or am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello. I believe the thing takes 1 cd and 1 dvd, or 8 cd's. I happened to have just burned a set of recovery discs this morning for my t61p. The guide on the lenovo website is confusing because it doesn't tell you the order in which the cd and dvd should be put. So I ended up using 2 dvd-r's (and wasted a 3rd one because I accidentally cancelled the burn process midway =/), but I realized that I should have used a cd for the first disc and a dvd for the second (the first burn took only a couple minutes but the second one took longer).

Yeah I also used a dvd for the first disc which took a minute or two...but after I burned that...there was nothing else to burn. So I am confused as to what else I need to burn. It did not prompt me to add another disc after I burned the first one.

In my case it prompted me to put in another disc after I burned the first one.

My dad's t61 is the same. We only burned 1 dvd disc when we were expecting to burn 3 discs.

Hmmm... I've had a new T61 for a couple of weeks. Shortly after I got it I burned the disks. I started with a DVD rather than CD and ended with 3 DVDs... first one not full, second one full, third one not full. Process was successful and verification worked.

Same situation here... Verification worked... 3 DVDs. However when I tried to do a full recovery none of the 3 dvds were the OS recovery disk. So I was stuck on the prompt for the OS recovery disk. I clicked next to skip since none of the disks I had would read and as a result My computer would not boot. The best thing is I never received an error message so when I called Lenovo I had to pay $45 for the OEM recovery disks.

If I were you, I'd get Acronis True Image... Do a full image of your drive to a backup location... Test the recovery disks. Don't wait until you need the recovery disks.
