Can't figure out why it's printing via Explorer,
...but not via Firefox (version 3.6.13.

It's XP Professional, SP3, and the Printers & Other Hardware has my printer (HP 5L) set up as default printer, so why isn't it printing via FF?

What happens when you try to print?

When I try printing in FF:

    2 dialog boxes pop up

    First one:
Title: Refurb. T42 with Firefox - not printing
Progress: Preparing (but even though after awhile you see a lime green color filling up, as so-called "progress" - it never does link to the printer or print.

    Second one:
    doPDF - Save PDF file

BTW, not sure i should piggyback another Q related to Firefox,
but I asked it on the Firefox forum, and still no progress:
I have my Internet Explorer Favorites on USB stick and don't know how to get them into the browsers (FF & IE) of this laptop.

Another problem I'm having with (with both browsers, not just FF), is that every character of text i type (including in this text-box is VERY delayed.
I keep hearing the fan kick on - can that be causing the delay?
But yet, when I type on Wordpad, there's immediate response.
It's only when I'm typing in the textbox of this forum
...(and at least one other forum i just now tried)...
    ......that it's happening.

This might sound like a dumb suggestion, but did you select it to print from your printer from firefox? When you press print, make sure under the name selection, you pick the printer you want it to print on and not MS document writer or something else.

Actually, your question was NOT dumb (I guess that makes me the dumb one, since I never ran into this before. Is it just Firefox's quirk?

Now that you alerted me, I noticed that File Print Name was set to:
    doPDFv7

...so once I clicked HP 5L on the drop-down,

    ..................................... ISSUE SOLVED

Thanks for enlightening this dummie!

Though I may return this laptop anyway, due to noisy fan and unstable display (including fractalization of dialog boxes when dragging them, "bouncy" display, no Color-mode on display tab, for adjusting brightness, etc.

    "doPDF - Save PDF file"

Judy, this should tell you that it's printing to a file.

I've never before bothered to look at that area of the print dialog box, probably cuz I never ran into this problem before. Usually, I'd just check to make sure of the default printer via:

    Control Panel (printers/other hardware)
