I was hoping someone could help me out with my laptop problem.

I recently replaced the lcd screen on my Lenovo T61p (14" sxga+) with a new compatible screen from BlissComputers.net.

Although I am not so technical, everything seemed to go back together OK.

As the computer is booting up the screen is working but when windows boots up I get nothing on my screen.

When I boot up in safe mode, the screen works just fine.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

    Thanks,
    Dino

I have a rough idea. There is a period that your machine runs in a mode that is similar to a computer terminal. Later, it loads a terminal driver and this is the section you are not executing OK.

OK, but does anyone know how I can go about correcting this?

Try reinstalling the video driver in safe mode? Contact the seller to see if they have drivers? That is quite the conundrum.

Does it work on an external screen?

Stealths suggestion unfortunately isn't relevant. The problem is electrical and is not software.

hook the laptop to an external display, try changing the resolution or the refresh rate to see if you can get picture on the lcd.

sorry, I probably included this information in my initial post.

I can connect to an external display, and it works fine, even with a normal boot-up. Bu no matter what settings I play with (CTRL-F7, etc.), I can't get the laptop's monitor to work when in regular windows.

yeah, what i'm worried about is that your new lcd has a lower/different refresh rate, so it wont work.

Does safe mode allows you to view the desktop?

The screen I bought was labeled as an IBM LENOVO 42T0433 LAPTOP LCD PANEL 14.1" SXGA+. The resolutions matched the ones from my original screen.

Safe mode does allow me to view the desktop on my laptop screen.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when my screen went bad, I used (ctrl-f7) to flip the display to external monitor, now when I try it I can't flip it back.

Also, I installed the latest nvidia drivers, but when I get to the screen that allows me to switch between internal and external displays it keeps defaulting to the external one.

Maybe the LCD works with another frequency like 50Hz, you could try going into Display properties (In the external monitor), going to Settings..., Advanced options at the bottom of the screen, then go to the Monitor tab, there should be a 50Hz and 60HZ options, select the 50Hz and try to switch back.
If doesn't work this means either that Windows is trying the LCD to work at a certain frequency/resolution being incompatible with the LCD itself.

Another thing to try is booting with a LiveCD and see if the screen works correctly, or in extreme cases backup your data and just do a Windows clean install.
