I just did a clean install of win 8.1 pro on my T440p, everything is fine until I turn on my bluetooth mouse, wifi connection disconnects immediately!
I'm like, seriously??? It's a Realtek Thinkpad 2x2 crap card. After all these years, still we get this stupid interference that could be solved with better drivers? I don't know, should I replace it with an intel one?

if you ever have choice in choosing networking equipment always choose intel over realtek

also it's very cheap and easy going to an intel 6205. They are about $15 and it's two screws to remove the keyboard, slide it up and you can replace it. Would take less than 3 min to change out on a t420.

From your reinstall thread, I gather that that was at least the second reinstall, no? You never followed up on whether you figured out your ACPI driver issue.
But for this current problem, did you have connection problems on your previous installs? If no, then a simpler hypothesis would be that it's a driver problem. Are you using a different version of the wifi driver now?
Shielding issues in these devices should be a long-solved problem by now. Do you have any confirmation that it is an electrical problem and not a software one? -

Something people overlook is what wifi channel your router is set to and you might be suffering from what's called "Electromagnetic interference". Every router has the ability for you to select a wifi channel in which it is broadcasted. Wifi signals (besides 5ghz) operate under the standard 2.4ghz band. Devices that run off 2.4ghz bands as well: Bluetooth, cordless phones, car alarms, microwave ovens. Bluetooth in your case runs off 2.4ghz-2.4835ghz. All of these, and other sources operate along side each other, and often fight over which lane they want to be in, just like our public highways. You might be getting interference from one of these sources. By selecting your wifi to operate under a different channel, makes your wifi devices be in a safe zone.
What kind of router do you have? (manufacture, model, single band or dual band). -
Steps to change wifi channel:
You can download programs (freeware), which allow you to see what other channels your neighbors are on.. you could very well be interfering with their wifi channels. Download a program such as this. View the results once the scan is complete.
Based on the information provided- change your channel to a desired value which differentiates from other networks and that ranges between 1-11 (there are only 11 channels within 2.4ghz)
Open your browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox etc.)
In the address bar enter 192.168.1.1
You will be prompted for a username and password.
Click onto Network Setting and then Wireless
Somewhere in the page, you will see channel selection- it's to automatic by default, you will need to change this option to Manual. You can now change the Operating Channel to your desired frequency. **Remember: 1-11**
Once you have your desired settings, click Apply and see where you stand after. -
To add to that - I like to use inSSIDer myself for that. To each his own.
Second, use channels 1, 6, and 11 - they're the only ones that don't conflict with others.
Your router is probably 192.168.1.1, but might not be. If that doesn't work, find your computer's IP, and try changing the last part to 1. Run ipconfig in command prompt perhaps (on Windows).skitahoemc likes this. -
^^^Yep. Set your channel to #1 and I'll bet the problem goes away.
