Do we have somebody from San Jose, CA here?
I need an information about stores offering Lenovo machines urgently...
My mom is there and she's coming back to Poland on June 8th. I want to try to get some pre-configured T60 if only it's possible. Would be great if I could check the prices on the web.

I think there's no time to order online...

Thanks in advance for any information!!

Try circuit city, best buys, or Fry's Electronics. I live in SJ. What part of san jose is she in?

Ooops, I don't know what part she's in.. I can ask her if that would help..
I talked to her today and she told me they (our family there, whom she visited) buy their electronics at Fry's, but I checked their site and there was no Lenovo - but maybe the website is not relevant to their offline outlets? Is it possible to check their prices somewhere? Also, she told me they can only go there on weekend (workaholics)

If she don't buy the machine in a few days, I will have to wait for some cousin to come here and that would take at least a few months...
So I can get the machine cheaper (than Poland) now or much later...

    Thanks

I'm honestly not sure if Fry's carries the T60, but i can tell you for a fact that their online site does not reflect the actual in store prices. You'll usually be able to find a better deal in store.

You can always ask your mother to check out Circuit City. If you can order it online, and it has an option to be picked up at the store, then it should be available in the store as well.

    Good luck.

while searching through the tabook I even found a model that suits my needs perfectly - T60 200768U. If only I could find that in San Jose for max $2000 now! :D

Or better yet, have your relative order you one online directly from Lenovo. It'll probably take about a month for your order to be shipped. Once your cousin gets here in a couple of months, he/she can bring it back to you. I am sure you read about the current deal Lenovo is having on the new T61's. The current online prices are much better than in store prices.

Yeah, but T61 has off-centered screen and i don't want it, unless they release a centered model :)
Secondly, those customizable ones are not IWS eligible :( That's why I have to buy a pre-configured model, so it can be serviced in Poland later... I don't know right now, if IWS can be just purchased for *any* model... Thanks!

MicroCenter, in Santa Clara, in the same shopping center as the AMC Googolplex. Take the same exit off 101 as you would for Paramount Great America.

That MicroCenter has three or four different Lenovo notebook products on display at any given time.

Fry's does not carry Lenovo. BestBuy, Circuit City, and Office Depot have a very limited selection on display -- typically two or fewer models.

Oh, and the resellers database on Lenovo's site is hopelessly out of date, so don't even bother.

Not anymore, really. They're closing stores all over the place. The store in San Mateo next to Hillsdale Mall folded about two months ago (I got an APC UPS during their closing-forever sale). CompUSA also had, at most, two models on display.

most of the bestbuy's i run into have really low end t60's and not even the t60p's. These will all have really low resolutions, 1.8ghz processors, and 1 gb ram. enjoy the crapness. =)

It seems that it would have to be ordered online, if I want some decent model... And will have to pay CA tax.

Most online retailers, except Lenovo and those based in CA, don't charge CA tax. Check out this onethis one

I was rather thinking about this one (at least it has everything I need):
    http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=6550783

But it's a bit expensive in comparison to other retailers, though some others charge ca tax (or have 1 year warrantly, so then they are not relatively cheap). I found it a bit hard to find CA tax information on those retailers sites.
But hey, in Poland this model costs $3,200 :)

I really wanted to get it at max $2,000 from USA, but if it's not possible, maybe I'll go with pcconnection... Still furiously searching the web :)

    Thanks
