    so I got 4GB RAM (2x2GB, 4-4-4-12, G.SKILL) for my T61 with XP Pro

    and somewhat it looks that windows (SP3) got tiny bit faster ... :)

    it sees 3GB, and Task manager shows 2908Mb

    CPU-Z shows correct size modules and timing

    3DMark06 improved with 5 marks, lol, to 2299 (with all my stuff loaded)


    - not that I needed that much RAM, but the GFs laptop (Latitude D630) has only 1GB so instead of buying her another 1GB DIMM I upgraded mine and gave her my old 2GB sticks (2x1GB). Now she has one 1GB extra DIMM :)

    P.S. Even with 2GB RAM I did not have page file

    You need a 64bit version OS to address all 4GB of RAM, if it bothers you that much. Otherwise 3GB should be fine.
