just got a new x61s, Vista Business, no BT or Fingerprint. Task manager said 92 processes running. I eliminated some junkware (Norton, Windows Live update) and got it down to 77 processes.
I just downloaded a few programs and I'm back up to 90 processes. The programs are:

    Skype
Logitech software for my Ultravision webcam
    CCleaner
    AVG antivirus
    Google toolbar

anybody aware of any processes I can ditch with these popular programs?

how do I get a screen shot of Task Manager to post?

Try Blackviper "Features." This might help you.

To capture screen shots, Download the free Gadwin printscreen or Fastone Capture. I prefer Fastone but it expire 30 days after trial.

As for processes, er...I am a ex-junkie in optimizing and have read most of the stuff and done it, like removing startups, stopping useless services etc.

After all the tweaking, I find that the system has negligible increase in performance.

So my suggestion is to leave it alone if it doesn't really slow donw the system (like norton, that is definitely out).

Now I have new problems. I started through the Vista Tweaks page, only got past a few steps and now my internet is not working. I open IE and get a blank page saying "connecting..." at top, but nothing. I can't close the page either by clicking on the X. I'm thinking about doing a factory restore, but is there anything I can check quickly to resolve my IE issue? The tray icon syas there is a connection, and IE is working on this R61i.

I would just do a clean install. Went from 88 processed at startup to about 60.
